Deskripsi
This class is part of the Heriot-Watt University Distance Learning Masters of Reservoir Engineering program. It is intended to give a broad understanding of petrophysics and to allow participants to confidently interpret log data. The course will cover all the aspects of the fundamentals of open hole formation evaluation, from basic reservoir concepts to porosity and saturation computations in carbonate and sandstone reservoirs. The emphasis during the course will be on the fundamental “Science” and on the efficient use of logs. The course will also introduce the latest open hole logging techniques and technology development. A strong element of log quality control is also included with multiple exercises.

Tujuan Pelatihan
Dengan mengikuti training formation evaluation, maka diharapkan :
- Memahami prinsip dasar dan teknologi mutahir tentang evaluasi formasi dengan logging batuan termasuk cased hole logging.
- Melakukan diagnosis sifat-sifat sumuran dan evaluasi reservoir dengan interpretasi hasil evaluasi formasi dengan logging conventional maupun cased holed logging.
- Membuat analisis dan dapat menentukan kemampuan produksi sumuran dari interpretasi data evaluasi formasi dengan logging
- Memengerti prinsip-prinsip modern untuk perhitungan wellsite computed log
Outline Materi

- Logging tools; acquisition and LQC; Basic petrophysics principles; porosity and permeability; Passive lithology indicators
- Porosity concepts and measurements; Acoustic, density and neutron devices; Lithological typing; Porosity determination
- Resistivity devices; induction and later log tools; Invasion profiles and determining formatum resistivity; Determination of formation water resistivity
- Archie’s Equation; Gas and shale corrections; Complex, vuggy and fractured porosity systems; Permeability indicators and determination
